Episode 9 Quote 1.png

In episode #9 of My 2.0, guest Liza Rodewald, Founder and CEO of Instant Teams, shares her transition from being a computer programmer working as an employee to a 4x entrepreneur building scale.

Liza talks about loving her early career but facing challenges in being an involved mother at the same time. It was this passion, in the ability to build careers with a flexible lifestyle, that set brought out her accidental entrepreneurship. Further, as she became a military spouse, she saw the challenges that came with these qualified women not being able to secure stable jobs because of the demands of their military spouses. And how there was a potential to make this a win-win, in using this untapped and qualified pool of labor, and matching with companies who needed this talent.

She recommends having a group of mentors to guide through transitions and progressions. She learnt everything she needed to know about scaling a company from the Founder Institute, and recommends resources like that for all entrepreneurs looking to scale.

Her recommendation for encouraging entrepreneurship in girls is to invite female entrepreneurs to schools and colleges so they set a role model and are able to provide mentorship opportunities early on.

Some transition myths she would like to debunk are that we think we need a full skill set for our new job. She thinks we don’t, but that we identify our core, transferable skills, so that we can forge a path to get better skilled at the new job.
